Drone test flight over Laurel Hill Park set for August 22, officials say

Secaucus, NJ – The Secaucus Police Department has announced that Hudson County Mosquito Control will conduct a test flight using a large unmanned aircraft system (UAS) on Friday, August 22, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., west of the old Jersey City Police shooting range behind Laurel Hill Park.

The drone, identified by tail number N595HC, will be flying at low altitude as part of an authorized test operation. No pesticides will be applied during the flight.

The flight is permitted under FAA exemption 23208, and all necessary flight plans have been filed with the FAA. Images of the aircraft and flight area were provided in the department’s online posting.
