New Jersey player hits $1K a week for life with lottery ticket bought in Elizabeth
TRENTON, NJ — A lucky Union County resident is set to receive $1,000 a week for life after matching five numbers in Tuesday night’s CASH4LIFE drawing, narrowly missing the jackpot by just one digit but still cashing in on a $1 million prize.
The winning ticket, sold at Varsha Convenience Store at 900 Grove St. in Elizabeth, matched the numbers 04, 06, 08, 33, and 35 — coming up short only on the Cash Ball, which was 02. Instead of the top “$1,000 a day for life” prize, the player claimed the game’s second-highest prize, choosing the lump-sum cash value of $1 million.
Varsha Convenience Store will receive a $10,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket, continuing a lucky streak for New Jersey residents this summer. It’s the fourth major CASH4LIFE win in New Jersey in recent months, including two other $1 million prizes and a $7 million top cash value win since May.
CASH4LIFE is a multi-state draw game available in nine states, offering two main prize tiers: $1,000 a day for life or $1,000 a week for life. Tickets cost $2, with an optional DOUBLER add-on available for an extra $1. Drawings are held daily at approximately 9 p.m.
To win the top two prizes, players must match all five white balls and, for the jackpot, also hit the green Cash Ball. In Tuesday’s case, just one number stood between the Union County winner and the top-tier lifetime prize — but the $1 million payout is still a major score.
Lottery officials have not yet released the winner’s identity.
