Teen slain in late-night shooting near Silver Spring bus stop
SILVER SPRING, MD – A 17-year-old boy was found dead in the street Tuesday night after shots rang out near a bus stop along University Boulevard, sparking a homicide investigation in Montgomery County.
Police said officers were called just before midnight on August 19 to the 700 block of University Boulevard after multiple reports of gunfire. Soon after, a caller reported a person lying in the roadway. Responding units discovered the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives said two additional people were located nearby. Neither was hurt, though investigators believe they may have been connected to the incident.
As of Wednesday morning, police had not released the victim’s name and no arrests had been made. Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police continue to search for suspects and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
