TOMS RIVER, NJ — Two young deer have captured hearts in Toms River after settling behind a local craft store — without their mothers, but with each other.
Employees and customers at Fabricated For You Craft Store first noticed a single baby deer wandering near their parking lot nearly a month ago. The lone fawn, appearing healthy but clearly without a doe nearby, lingered near the building and never strayed far. Then, about a week later, a second orphaned fawn appeared — and the two have been inseparable ever since.

The store, located in a commercial area of Toms River, has quietly become a haven for the young deer, who now spend their days roaming the grassy edges of the lot and resting in shaded spots near the store’s rear entrance.
Store staff say the pair appear to be thriving, eating natural vegetation and sticking close together for safety. Despite the lack of a maternal figure, both animals have managed to grow, displaying what staff described as clear signs of bonding and mutual care.
