Baltimore County woman scores $50K scratch-off win and celebrates with her dad

Joyful dance follows $50K Maryland Lottery scratch-off score

BALTIMORE, MD — What started as an ordinary evening turned into a life-changing dance party for a Baltimore County family after a woman scratched off a $50,000 lottery prize and celebrated in her living room with her father.

The winner, who works as a support worker at a group home, said she had stopped by Shopper’s Discount Liquors on Liberty Road in Windsor Mill after work to pick up a $5 MONOPOLY™ X20 scratch-off ticket. When the ticket revealed a top prize, her excited shouts brought her father rushing into the room.

“I could hardly get the words out when my dad came in,” she recalled after claiming her prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on August 20. “But he figured it out pretty quickly as I danced around with the ticket. In fact, he joined me.”

This marks the biggest win of her life, far surpassing any previous lottery prizes. MONOPOLY™ X20, which launched in January, originally carried eight $50,000 top prizes; with her win, just two remain in circulation along with one $5,000 second-tier prize.

The retailer that sold the ticket will also receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
