Cambridge man arrested in drug distribution investigation near Pine and Cross Streets
CAMBRIDGE, MD — A 20-year-old Cambridge man was arrested Thursday morning following a targeted drug investigation that led to the discovery of narcotics during a traffic stop, police announced.
Nasir Dewayne Demby was taken into custody around 9:55 a.m. after Cambridge Police Department officers from the P.A.C.E. Unit, Patrol Division, and K9 Unit executed a search and seizure warrant stemming from a weeks-long investigation into suspected drug activity in the area of Pine Street and Cross Street.
According to police, the investigation began after community members lodged complaints about ongoing drug distribution in the neighborhood throughout July and August. Officers obtained a warrant for Demby’s person as a result of the probe.
Demby was located driving in the 700 block of Race Street, where officers initiated a traffic stop. During the search, a quantity of suspected controlled dangerous substances (CDS) was found on him, though police did not specify the type or amount.
He was arrested on scene, processed at CPD headquarters, and later transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond.
Demby faces two charges: CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotic and CDS Possession Not Cannabis.
