Nobody is above the law: Feds raid John Bolton's Maryland home and D.C. office

Feds storm John Bolton’s Maryland home and D.C. office in classified documents crackdown

BETHESDA, MD – Just after sunrise on Friday, federal agents executed a high-profile search at the home of former National Security Adviser John Bolton, launching a dramatic new chapter in a long-dormant national security investigation according to the New York Post.

Federal agents were also seen at Bolton’s Washington, D.C. office this morning.

“NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission,” said FBI Director Kash Patel.

Shortly before 7 a.m., FBI agents arrived at Bolton’s upscale residence in Bethesda, Md., and began a thorough search of the property. The unannounced operation, which sources say is tied to the handling of classified documents, was personally authorized by FBI Director Kash Patel — a former Trump administration official who assumed the bureau’s top post earlier this year.

A government official briefed on the situation said the probe had initially been opened several years ago, but was reportedly shut down during the Biden administration due to political concerns. That same official confirmed the case was recently revived under Patel’s direction.

Agents in unmarked vehicles remained on scene for hours as Bolton’s wife, Gretchen Smith Bolton, was spotted outside the home during the search.

While agents combed through the residence, Bolton’s X account posted a pointed message at 7:32 a.m. attacking Donald Trump’s approach to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Whether the post was pre-scheduled or sent during the raid remains unknown.

“Russia has not changed its goal: drag Ukraine into a new Russian Empire. Moscow has demanded that Ukraine cede territory it already holds and the remainder of Donetsk, which it has been unable to conquer. Zelensky will never do so. Meanwhile, meetings will continue because Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize, but I don’t see these talks making any progress,” Bolton posted as his home was being raided by the FBI.

No arrests have been made and Bolton has not been charged. The FBI declined to comment on the active investigation, and a spokesperson for Bolton did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Bolton, who served as Trump’s national security adviser from 2018 to 2019, has remained publicly critical of the former president since leaving the White House. The exact nature of the materials involved in the investigation remains undisclosed, but officials say the contents are considered “sensitive.”
