Newark man arrested for knifepoint robbery in Wilmington Kohl’s parking lot
WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested a 45-year-old Newark man accused of robbing a woman at knifepoint in the parking lot of a Kohl’s store on Kirkwood Highway earlier this week.
The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. on August 20, when police say a man opened the door of a woman’s car, pointed a knife at her, and demanded her belongings. The victim handed over her property before the suspect fled in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck toward Kirkwood Highway. She was not injured.
Detectives identified the suspect as Juan Carbajal and secured a warrant for his arrest. On August 21, Carbajal was taken into custody and transported to Troop 6, where he was charged with:
- Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
Carbajal was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $50,000 cash bond.
