Caregiver accused of beating disabled man with cord at New Jersey facility

Medford, NJ – A caregiver at a Medford Township adult care facility has been charged after investigators say he beat an autistic man under his supervision with a cord, leaving visible injuries, according to prosecutors.

Fuller P. Williams, 45, of Burlington City, was arrested on July 29 and charged with endangering the welfare of a disabled adult and simple assault. Authorities say the alleged abuse occurred at the Friends of Cyrus Adult Day Services Program, which provides care to adults with developmental disabilities.

The investigation began earlier this summer when Medford Township Police responded to a report of suspected patient abuse at the White Birch Trail facility. Officers were alerted by other staff members who discovered injuries on the victim’s body. According to officials, the man had multiple welts and bruises on his back and buttocks, consistent with having been struck by a thin cord.

Williams was taken into custody following the incident and later released after a court appearance in Mount Holly. Prosecutors say the case is now being prepared for possible indictment by a grand jury.

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the case in coordination with Medford Township Police. No further details about the victim or motive were released.
