Suspects threaten victim with stolen pickaxe during daylight Southeast DC robbery
WASHINGTON, DC — Two suspects wielding a stolen pickaxe robbed a man in broad daylight on a Southeast DC street last Friday, making off with his belongings before fleeing in a black SUV, according to authorities reviewing surveillance footage of the incident.
The confrontation unfolded just before noon on the 3000 block of Nelson Place SE, where the suspects reportedly approached the victim’s parked truck and removed a pickaxe from the vehicle. Armed with the tool, the pair then confronted the victim directly, issuing threats and forcibly taking his property before escaping in an awaiting vehicle.
The brazen midday robbery was captured on surveillance cameras in the area. Footage shows two individuals and a dark-colored SUV believed to have been used in the escape. Authorities have not released identities but are circulating the images in hopes the public can help track the suspects down.
