Baltimore woman lands $30K top prize with Bonus Crossword scratch-off
BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore woman’s weekend took a winning turn after she scratched off a $30,000 prize on the Maryland Lottery’s $3 Bonus Crossword 7th Edition game, making it her biggest win in more than 40 years of playing.
She and her husband purchased several scratch-off tickets over the weekend, saving them until Saturday evening to play. While the first few tickets weren’t winners, she struck gold with the Bonus Crossword ticket after matching 10 words — enough to unlock the game’s top prize.
The couple confirmed the win the following morning by scanning the ticket at a local retailer, which showed the $30,000 payout. They then visited Maryland Lottery headquarters on Monday to officially claim the prize.
The winner, who has scored smaller wins in the past, said she plans to enjoy the windfall with her husband, who is considering putting some of the money toward savings or a new car. She is leaning toward using part of the prize for a vacation or home improvements.
The winning ticket was sold at Golden BP, located at 1900 West Lafayette Avenue in Baltimore. The retailer will receive a $300 bonus.
Bonus Crossword 7th Edition launched in February and still has five top prizes of $30,000 available, along with a dozen $5,000 prizes.
