Brooklyn, NY – A city custodian is facing multiple felony charges after an off-duty incident on Monday evening that ended in handcuffs within the boundaries of the NYPD’s 84th Precinct.
Desmond Bryant, 46, a custodial employee with the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services, was arrested at 6:54 p.m. and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of assault, officials confirmed.
The arrest unfolded in Brooklyn, though details of what led to the charges remain under investigation. Bryant, who was off-duty at the time, was not acting in an official capacity when the alleged crimes occurred.
Sources say the charges stem from a confrontation that escalated into violence, though police have not yet released the specific circumstances. The weapons involved have not been publicly disclosed.
Bryant, a city employee in his mid-40s, has worked for DCAS in a custodial role, though the length of his employment and disciplinary history were not immediately available.
He is expected to appear in court later this week. It remains unclear whether the case will affect his employment status with the city.
