Hooked on fall fun NJDEP launches hands-on fishing workshops for women families and beginners

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – New Jersey residents looking to embrace the outdoors this fall can cast their lines into a new hobby, as NJDEP Fish & Wildlife’s R3 Fishing Program kicks off a series of beginner-friendly fishing workshops at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery and Pequest Natural Resource Education Center.

The Women’s Fishing Workshop will take place on September 6, followed by a Family Fishing Workshop on September 14. Both sessions cover the essentials of fishing, including fish biology, gear selection, casting techniques, knot tying, and fishing regulations. The workshops end with hands-on fishing practice the same day.
