MANHATTAN, NY – A 24-year-old man was slashed and beaten in broad daylight Sunday after three assailants stole his phone and then attacked him when he tried to get it back — before fleeing the East Village scene on bicycles, police said.
The violent robbery occurred at approximately 3:35 p.m. at the southwest corner of East 8th Street and Cooper Square. According to police, the victim was approached by three unidentified individuals who snatched his iPhone from his hand without warning. When the victim attempted to retrieve it, the group responded with force, punching him repeatedly and slashing his left hand with a knife.

The suspects then escaped on bicycles, heading eastbound on East 8th Street toward an unknown location. The victim was treated at the scene and transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in stable condition.
Descriptions of the suspects have been released:
- The first individual is described as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a white shirt and black baseball cap.
- The second individual is described as a male with a medium complexion, last seen in a black sweater and gray/white shorts.
- The third individual is described as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a red T-shirt.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
