Man posing as delivery worker robs elderly woman in Lower East Side apartment attack

NEW YORK, NY – A 77-year-old woman was shoved to the ground and robbed in her own apartment Tuesday afternoon by a man posing as a delivery person, who forced his way into the Lower East Side building before fleeing with cash, jewelry, and the victim’s Ring camera.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. in the vicinity of FDR Drive and East 4th Street, when the unidentified male suspect knocked on the victim’s door claiming to have a delivery. As the woman opened the door, the suspect forced his way inside, pushing her to the floor and ransacking the apartment.

The man reportedly stole approximately $20 in cash, an assortment of jewelry, and a doorbell Ring camera before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction. EMS responded to the scene and treated the victim for minor injuries. She was not hospitalized.

Police described the suspect as a male with a medium complexion and medium build. He was last seen wearing a green baseball cap, white t-shirt, black pants, and black sneakers, and was carrying a black backpack.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
