VAN NUYS, CA — Rapper Montero Hill, better known as Lil Nas X, is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting three police officers who responded to a call about a naked man walking along Ventura Avenue in Studio City early Thursday morning.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Hill, 26, was charged with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer. Prosecutors say officers were called to the scene around 5:40 a.m. on August 21 after receiving reports of a nude individual behaving erratically. When officers attempted to detain him, Hill allegedly became combative, injuring three of them.
Hill pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Monday at the Van Nuys Courthouse. He is being held on $75,000 bail pending further court proceedings, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 15.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman emphasized that no one is above the law, saying attacks on law enforcement “are a direct threat to public safety” and will be prosecuted regardless of a person’s fame.
If convicted on all charges, Hill could face up to five years in state prison.
The case is being handled by the Van Nuys Branch of the District Attorney’s Office and was investigated by the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division.
