$150K Powerball ticket sold in the Bronx with Power Play boost
Bronx, NY – A Powerball ticket sold in the Bronx for the August 25 drawing is now worth $150,000 after the lucky player matched enough numbers and opted for the Power Play multiplier, lottery officials confirmed Wednesday.
The ticket was purchased at TJ Lizzies, a neighborhood convenience store located at 3009 Harding Avenue. The player landed a third-place prize in the national drawing, which typically pays $50,000 — but because the buyer added the Power Play feature, the prize tripled to $150,000.
The Power Play option allows non-jackpot prizes to be multiplied by up to 10 times, depending on the multiplier drawn. In this case, the Power Play was 3x.
The winning numbers were drawn on Monday night during the regularly scheduled 10:59 p.m. drawing. Powerball drawings are held three times a week — on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday — with jackpots frequently soaring into the hundreds of millions.
The identity of the winner has not yet been revealed. All winning tickets must be claimed within one year of the draw date.
