Juvenile shot in legs after gunman opens fire on East Pittsburgh home

EAST PITTSBURGH, PA — A young boy was hospitalized Monday night after being shot in the legs when gunfire erupted outside a home on Main Street, prompting an active investigation by county detectives.

The shooting occurred around 7:06 p.m. in the 500 block of Main Street. According to Allegheny County Police, someone opened fire from outside, sending bullets into the residence and striking the juvenile victim. First responders arrived to find the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.

He was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in stable condition. Authorities have not released his age or identity.

Allegheny County’s General Investigations Unit is leading the probe. Investigators believe the shooter deliberately fired into the home but have not yet identified a suspect or motive. The shooting appears to be targeted, but officials have not confirmed whether the victim was the intended target.
