Shore man arrested for breaking into elementary school after police track suspect down

Deal, NJ – A man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly breaking into an elementary school, stealing an electric scooter, and fleeing the scene — only to be tracked down and charged the next day.

According to Deal Police, 39-year-old Kyle Costello of Asbury Park was identified as the suspect behind a burglary at Deal Elementary School that occurred late Saturday night. Investigators say Costello entered the school through a window, removed an electric scooter from a hallway, and exited the building undetected.

Detective Christopher Mirrione led the investigation, which resulted in the recovery of the stolen scooter and the identification of Costello through follow-up inquiries. Officers located and arrested him on Tuesday in Asbury Park.

Authorities emphasized that all charges are accusations, and Costello is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
