Teens crash stolen Kia in Columbus yard after high-speed chase and gun discovery

COLUMBUS, OH – A late-night police pursuit involving a stolen Kia ended in a violent crash and foot chase Wednesday night, leaving one person hospitalized and five teen suspects in custody — including one with multiple outstanding warrants.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, a Columbus Police helicopter alerted ground officers to a stolen Kia that had fled a traffic stop. The vehicle sped through multiple jurisdictions, evading repeated attempts by officers to stop it, before crashing into a front yard in the 1000 block of S. Champion Avenue.

The stolen car struck another vehicle during the chase, injuring its driver, who was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

After the crash, all five occupants of the Kia — identified as 19-year-old Darrel Fields Jr., 18-year-old Crhistopher Allmon, two 15-year-olds, and a 14-year-old — fled the scene on foot. Officers quickly apprehended all five in the surrounding area.

Three firearms were recovered in the aftermath — two inside the vehicle and one in a nearby yard. The 14-year-old suspect was found to have multiple outstanding warrants, including charges for Receiving Stolen Property and Obstructing Official Business.

Police say all five individuals are known repeat offenders tied to prior motor vehicle crimes. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
