Cumberland, MD – Authorities in Allegany County have arrested three juveniles in connection with a string of vehicle thefts, tampering incidents, and firearms-related crimes, officials announced.
The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigations Unit (C3I) and the Cumberland Police Department executed multiple search and seizure warrants in the early hours of August 29 within city limits. The operation was supported by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Response Team, the Washington County Special Response Team, the Allegany County Road Patrol, and the Narcotics Task Force.
Investigators said the cases involve not only stolen vehicles but also incidents where suspects allegedly fired a handgun at victims.
Two juveniles were arrested and charged as adults. They are being held at the Allegany County Detention Center pending court proceedings. A third juvenile was arrested and placed in the custody of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests and charges are expected.
