CATONSVILLE, MD — A woman and her 6-year-old daughter were found dead inside their Baltimore County home Thursday afternoon, and a man believed to be connected to their deaths was also found with a fatal gunshot wound, according to county investigators.
Around 3:30 p.m., police responded to a call for a welfare check in the 740 block of Wilton Farm Drive. Inside the residence, officers discovered 42-year-old Chantel Sharieff with signs of physical trauma. Her daughter, Kimana Sharieff, had sustained what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Nearby, investigators located 43-year-old Mustafa Sharieff with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department are investigating the incident as a double murder-suicide. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact causes and manner of death.
The home, located in a residential area just outside the Baltimore Beltway, was closed off as police conducted interviews and collected evidence into the evening. Officials have not yet released any information about a possible motive or timeline.
There is no record of previous emergency calls to the home that has been made public. The investigation remains open and active.
