GAITHERSBURG, MD — A confrontation involving a group of juveniles armed with BB guns turned violent early Sunday morning, leaving two adult men hospitalized with stab wounds after a chaotic scene unfolded on a residential street in Germantown.
Montgomery County police say the incident erupted just after 2:30 a.m. on the 19500 block of Amaranth Drive, where several juvenile males reportedly began firing BB guns at a group of people. As the situation escalated, one adult man was stabbed in the back, and another suffered a slashing injury to his arm during the melee.
Both victims were taken to area hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Responding officers encountered a chaotic scene as suspects scattered on foot and in vehicles toward the dead end of Amaranth Drive. A perimeter was quickly established, and air support was provided by the Maryland State Police. Additional units from the 1st District and Maryland-National Capital Park Police assisted in the response.
Roughly 15 individuals were detained during an extensive search of the area, though no arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
