Bronx shooting leaves one dead and four injured in Allerton Avenue gunfire

Bronx, NY – A Labor Day evening erupted in violence when five men were shot outside a building on Allerton Avenue, leaving one dead and several wounded, police said.

Officers responded around 7:34 p.m. Monday to reports of gunfire in front of 686 Allerton Avenue, within the 49th Precinct. A preliminary investigation determined that five adult males were struck by bullets.

Four victims — a 27-year-old shot in the foot, a 25-year-old shot in the arm, a 21-year-old also shot in the arm, and another 27-year-old grazed in the leg — were all reported in stable condition at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi.

A 25-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds across his body was pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Police detained several persons of interest near the scene. Among them was a 24-year-old man who was critically injured in a vehicle collision near Arnow Avenue and Hone Avenue. He was also taken to Jacobi Hospital.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
