DC Police collar Southeast man for M Street shooting

Suspect arrested in connection with 2024 double shooting in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC – Nearly ten months after a man and woman were shot on M Street in Northeast, police have arrested a suspect in connection with the November 2024 shooting.

The Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of 45-year-old Kevin Stanton of Southeast D.C., who was taken into custody Friday pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. He is charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun).

The original incident occurred on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 5:03 p.m. Officers from the Fifth District responded to the unit block of M Street, Northeast, following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound and an adult female who had been grazed by a bullet.

DC Fire and EMS transported the male victim to a local hospital for treatment. The female victim was treated at the scene.

No motive for the shooting has been disclosed, and police have not stated whether Stanton knew the victims. The case remains under active investigation.
