Philadelphia, PA – A violent Labor Day weekend left multiple people shot and stabbed across the city, with victims ranging from teenagers to adults, police said.
In the early hours of Monday, police responded to a home on the 1500 block of Adams Avenue where a 17-year-old boy was struck in the back by gunfire that came through a living room window while he played video games with friends. He was rushed to Temple Hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
On Sunday night, gunfire erupted in Oxford Circle when a 14-year-old boy was grazed in the face by a bullet after shots were fired from a light-colored sedan on the 5600 block of Summerdale Avenue. He was treated at St. Christopher’s Hospital and remains stable.
That same evening in Olney, a 49-year-old man was gunned down outside a home on East Fisher Avenue after being shot in the arm and side. Investigators say he had earlier been involved in a dispute at a deli on Rising Sun Avenue. He remains in critical condition at Einstein Hospital.
Meanwhile, a fight at a Washington Avenue playground escalated into violence around 8 p.m. Sunday. A 16-year-old boy suffered self-inflicted knife wounds while trying to defend his brother, and another juvenile later showed up at a hospital with stab wounds to the abdomen and shoulder. Both are in stable condition, police said.
Authorities confirmed all incidents remain under investigation, with no arrests reported in any of the cases.
