New York, NY – The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an estimated $1.30 billion after no ticket matched all six numbers in the Labor Day drawing on Monday night.
While the top prize went unclaimed, ten players across the country are now millionaires after matching all five white balls. Winning tickets were sold in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey (two tickets), New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, according to Powerball officials. Each ticket is worth $1 million.
The next drawing is set for Wednesday at 11 p.m., with the jackpot carrying an estimated cash value of $589 million before taxes. The prize ranks as the fifth largest in Powerball history, continuing a streak of massive jackpots that have fueled nationwide ticket sales.
Winning Numbers: 8, 23, 25, 40, 53 and the Powerball: 5
The odds of winning the grand prize remain steep at 1 in 292.2 million, but that hasn’t stopped hopeful players from lining up for a chance at life-changing money.
