Robbery suspect in DC vanishes westbound on green scooter
Washington, DC – Just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, a robbery unfolded in broad daylight along the 1700 block of Irving Street NE, prompting a rapid police response and a citywide alert as the suspect fled the scene on a green scooter, police said.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department’s 5th District, the suspect is described as a Black male with a skinny build, wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing. Witnesses reported seeing him heading westbound on 17th Street NE following the robbery.
Investigators have not released details about the victim or the items taken. The suspect remains at large as of Tuesday afternoon.
MPD units saturated the area shortly after the crime, canvassing streets and collecting surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses in an effort to identify and locate the suspect. It is unclear whether the robbery was targeted or random.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. MPD is urging the public not to approach the individual and to immediately report any sightings or relevant information.
