Virginia Powerball player wins $1 million as jackpot climbs to $1.3B

RICHMOND, VA – A Virginia Lottery player in Manassas is holding a $1 million ticket after Monday night’s Powerball drawing, while two others claimed $150,000 each as the jackpot soars to $1.3 billion.

The $1 million ticket was purchased at Wawa, located at 8704 Sudley Road in Manassas. It matched all five white balls but missed the red Powerball.

Two additional tickets purchased online using the Virginia Lottery mobile app also brought in big wins. Each matched four of the five white balls plus the Powerball number, normally a $50,000 prize. Because both players added the Power Play option, their prizes were tripled to $150,000 each.

The jackpot has been rolling since May and now ranks as the fifth-largest Powerball prize and the ninth-largest U.S. lottery jackpot.

Lottery officials highlighted that all Virginia Lottery profits support K-12 education in the state. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Lottery raised more than $901 million for schools, accounting for roughly 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 education budget.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m., with prizes ranging from $2 up to the jackpot.
