Birthday numbers land Rosedale man $40K Mega Millions prize
Rosedale, MD – A Baltimore County resident turned a $5 purchase into a $40,000 payday after playing family birthday numbers in the Mega Millions drawing.
The winning ticket, sold at the Royal Farms located at 8803 Philadelphia Road in Baltimore, matched four of the five white balls plus the Mega Ball in the August 12 drawing. The base prize of $10,000 was multiplied by four because the ticket included a 4X multiplier, boosting the total to $40,000.
The player, a corrections system administrator from Rosedale, claimed the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on September 2. The win is his largest to date, and it came after returning to number selections he had previously set aside.
Maryland Lottery officials confirmed that the Royal Farms retailer will also receive a bonus for selling the winning ticket.
