Florida woman convicted after choking mom and assaulting brother in PlayStation 4 game fight

Ocala, FL – A Marion County jury needed just 20 minutes last week to convict 21-year-old Alexandra Dominguez of domestic battery by strangulation and an additional count of battery after a violent dispute that began over a missing video game.

Dominguez was immediately taken into custody following the verdict in Judge Peter Brigham’s courtroom. A pre-sentence investigation is now underway before her official sentencing.

The charges stem from an April 24 incident in southwest Ocala, when deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported disturbance at a residence off SW 43rd Terrace Road. Two victims told deputies that Dominguez had followed them home after an outing at a local park, where they had agreed to return a gaming console.

When the PlayStation 4 was handed over, Dominguez allegedly became enraged over a missing game and console box. According to investigators, the argument escalated rapidly as Dominguez forced her way into the home, shoved her mother to the ground, and placed her hands around her mother’s neck, choking her.

When Dominguez’s younger brother attempted to break up the attack, she allegedly turned on him as well — grabbing his groin and squeezing, before striking him multiple times. Both victims suffered visible injuries, which were documented at the scene.

Attempts to reach Dominguez by phone were unsuccessful, and a warrant was later issued for her arrest. She was taken into custody without incident.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Lillian Rozsa. Officials credited the swift conviction to the clear physical evidence and consistent victim testimony.

Dominguez remains in custody pending sentencing. Domestic battery by strangulation is a third-degree felony in Florida, punishable by up to five years in prison.
