Northeast robbery suspect faces charges after weekend assault

Washington, DC – A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a robbery involving force and violence that left victims assaulted and robbed in Northeast, the Metropolitan Police Department announced.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 31, at about 11:13 p.m. in the 5600 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE. Police said a group of suspects physically assaulted several victims before stealing their belongings and fleeing the area.

On Monday, September 1, Sixth District officers responded to 63rd Street and Clay Street NE for reports of a group of suspects with weapons. During the investigation, officers determined one of the individuals at the scene was connected to the robbery.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Marquis Adams of Southeast DC, was arrested and charged with robbery.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are urging anyone with additional information to call (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous text tip to 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
