Four Virginia tickets win $50K in Powerball drawing as jackpot soars to $1.7B
Richmond, VA – Four Powerball tickets purchased in Virginia each won $50,000 in Wednesday night’s drawing, part of a surge of more than 175,000 winning tickets statewide, the Virginia Lottery announced.
The winning tickets matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball on September 3. They were purchased at:
- Elk Creek Country Store, 5224 Kentucky Springs Road, Bumpass
- Stop In Food Store, 856 Burks Hill Road, Bedford
- Wawa, 9471 Liberia Avenue, Manassas
- Online using the Virginia Lottery app
The winning numbers were 3, 16, 29, 61, 69, and the Powerball was 22.
Since no ticket nationwide matched all six numbers, the jackpot for Saturday’s drawing has climbed to an estimated $1.7 billion—the third-largest prize in Powerball history—with a cash option of $770.3 million.
In Fiscal Year 2025, the Virginia Lottery contributed more than $901 million to K-12 public education, representing about 10 percent of the state’s school budget.
