Arrest made in Union Station shooting that killed 18-year-old in February
Washington, DC – Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the fatal February shooting that left an 18-year-old dead at Union Station.
On September 3, authorities took Faizon Mason of Northeast DC into custody. He has been charged with second-degree murder while armed in the killing of Wayne McDaniel.
Gunfire erupted on February 10 shortly before 4:40 p.m., when Amtrak police reported shots fired near the bus waiting area at Union Station during the evening rush. Responding officers found 18-year-old Wayne McDaniel near the escalators to the parking garage, where he was unconscious and showing no signs of life. Emergency crews attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation spanned nearly seven months before Mason’s arrest. He remains in custody as court proceedings move forward.
