Wrong turn in Canfield construction zone leads to $1 million Powerball prize
Canfield, OH – A Mahoning County couple turned a detour into destiny when a stop at a Sheetz convenience store led to a $1 million Powerball win.
On September 3, the couple purchased $10 worth of Powerball tickets at Sheetz #328, located at 4585 Boardman Canfield Road in Canfield. Their ticket matched all five white balls but missed the red Powerball, securing a $1 million second-tier prize.
Lottery officials confirmed the winning numbers were 3, 16, 29, 61, 69, with the Powerball number 22. The Power Play was 2.
The Sheetz store that sold the winning ticket will receive a retailer bonus. The win comes as the Powerball jackpot continues to climb, with Saturday’s drawing set at $1.7 billion—the third-largest in the game’s history—with a cash option of $770.3 million.
The Ohio Lottery reported that since 1974 it has contributed more than $33 billion to education across the state.
