CAMBRIDGE, MD – A 30-year-old man died Thursday evening after police say he chased a woman with a knife and advanced on officers in the Deep Harbor development.
The incident unfolded around 5:05 p.m. near Seaway Lane and Riverview Wharf, according to Cambridge Police. Officers responding to reports of a man pursuing a woman with a knife encountered the suspect armed with the weapon.
Police said officers attempted to de-escalate the situation and ordered the man to drop the knife. When he refused and continued advancing, despite repeated warnings, one officer fired, striking him multiple times.
Officers immediately performed life-saving measures until EMS arrived. The man was first taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Cambridge before being flown to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, where he died from his injuries.
The man, described only as a 30-year-old Cambridge resident, has not yet been publicly identified. The woman involved was not reported injured.
