Repeat offender arrested in violent Southwest Baltimore carjacking

BALTIMORE, MD — A 21-year-old man with a prior carjacking arrest is back in custody after allegedly assaulting and robbing a driver at gunpoint in the early morning hours on Prudence Avenue earlier this month, according to Baltimore Police.

The armed carjacking occurred around 4:26 a.m. on August 12, when officers responded to the 4400 block of Prudence Avenue and found a victim who said he had been assaulted and had his vehicle taken by an unknown suspect.

Following an investigation by Southwest District detectives, a 21-year-old male was identified in connection with the crime. Police arrested the suspect on August 21 in the 1800 block of Ramsay Street.

He was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility and formally charged with armed carjacking, assault, and other related offenses.

The department confirmed the same individual had previously been arrested in 2023 for another armed carjacking. Details regarding the resolution of that earlier case were not immediately released.
