36-Year-Old Man Shot Multiple Times Dead In D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A man was fatally shot in Northwest D.C. on Saturday afternoon, according to detectives from the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department.

The incident took place at approximately 1:25 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of 7th Street to investigate reports of a shooting.

At the scene, police found 36-year-old Alonzo Jessie Atkins, a resident of Northwest, D.C., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Atkins died at the scene.

D.C. Police issued a lookout, described as two black men. One was wearing a gray sweatshirt, the other a red sweatshirt. Both men were observed fleeing eastward on Longfellow Street

Police are actively investigating the incident and ask that anyone with relevant information call 202-727-9099. Tips can also be sent anonymously via text to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
