AVON, NC – Her name is Rose and she’s a 600 pound, 10 foot, 5 inches long great white shark and she was spotted at 8:36 am this morning less than two miles off the coast of the popular Outerbanks tourist town of Avon. Rose is a great white shark being tracked by Ocearch. She was initially tagged on October 4th near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and has since made her fall trek south, hanging out off the Outerbanks since about October, but further out to sea. On November 6th, Rose made another trip closer to the shore near Rodanthe. She was spotted off the coast of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore yesterday morning. Rose is named after Rose Bay where she was found by researchers at Ocearch. She’s a young juvenile shark.
