NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has requested the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect connected to a residential burglary that occurred on Thursday. The suspect entered a property in the 100 block of 4th Avenue by hopping over the front gate and gaining access through a rear entrance. After spending approximately 10 minutes inside the residence, the suspect fled with the victim’s black purse and other items, heading westbound on 4th Avenue toward Summer Avenue.

Detectives have described the suspect as a Black male with a dark-brown complexion, standing between 5’6″-5’8″ tall and weighing around 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown oversized leather jacket with a blue hooded sweatshirt underneath, a skull cap, light blue jeans, black sneakers with a red bottom sole, and a gold ring on his left ring finger.

Director Fragé is urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
