74-year-old man assaulted after dispute in Brooklyn, suspect sought

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Police are searching for a suspect who assaulted a 74-year-old man in Sunset Park last month following a verbal dispute over a vehicle.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m. outside 6010 8th Avenue. Authorities said the victim tapped the suspect’s vehicle to signal that he was behind it as the driver began reversing. The driver then got out of the vehicle and engaged in a verbal altercation with the elderly man.

The situation escalated when the suspect punched the 74-year-old multiple times in the face and head, causing him to fall to the ground. The assailant then fled the scene in the vehicle to an unknown location.

The victim was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was treated in stable condition. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
