84-Year-Old Man Robbed of Necklaces, Run Over by Getaway Car in Queens

NYPD detectives are searching for two suspects who allegedly lured an elderly man toward a blue sedan before stealing his necklaces and injuring his hand.

QUEENS, N.Y. – An 84-year-old man was robbed of multiple necklaces and then had his hand run over as two suspects escaped in a car in Queens, police said.

The robbery happened around noon Aug. 23 behind 77-00 Queens Boulevard. According to the NYPD, two unidentified people in a blue sedan approached the elderly man and started a conversation with him.

As the victim moved closer to the vehicle, one of the suspects allegedly grabbed multiple necklaces from around his neck.

Victim Fell While Trying to Recover Necklaces

The 84-year-old tried to retrieve his property but was unsuccessful and fell to the ground, according to police.

The suspects then began driving away.

As the blue sedan fled, it ran over the victim’s hand, leaving him with pain and swelling, police said. The vehicle continued northbound on Ireland Street and disappeared.

The NYPD did not disclose the value of the stolen necklaces or provide additional information about the victim’s injuries.

No arrests have been announced.

NYPD Searches for Two Robbery Suspects

Detectives are working to identify both people involved in the robbery and locate the blue sedan used in the escape.

Police have not said whether the suspects knew the victim beforehand or why they approached him.
