98-Year-Old Man Found Dead in Philadelphia, Homicide Unit Investigating

PHILADELPHIA — A 98-year-old man was found dead Sunday night inside his Roosevelt Boulevard home with a severe head wound, prompting a homicide investigation by Philadelphia police.

Officers from the 15th District responded at approximately 11:16 p.m. to a radio call for a hospital case at a residence on the 6500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. Emergency medical personnel were already on scene treating the man when police arrived.

The victim was discovered unresponsive, seated on the steps in the living room area of the home, and had suffered a significant gash to the forehead. He was pronounced dead at 11:00 p.m., shortly before officers arrived, according to police.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim and have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected.

“This information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues,” police said in a statement issued Monday morning.

As of now, no arrests have been made and no motive has been disclosed. Updates will be shared as additional details emerge.
