POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has successfully arrested a known fentanyl dealer, 46-year-old Jermaine Boykin from Newburgh, in a targeted effort against drug trafficking in Poughkeepsie.

The focus of the investigation was the area around Kennedy Fried Chicken at 472 Main Street, a hotspot for recent overdoses and reported criminal activities.

Over the past month, the Task Force conducted undercover operations, purchasing fentanyl and cocaine from Boykin at various locations throughout the city.

The arrest took place on June 4 in the vicinity of Kennedy Fried in cooperation with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Emergency Services Units.

During the arrest, Boykin, who referred to himself as “Murder,” was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a Class B felony. He is currently held at the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, with further charges pending as investigations continue.

The Drug Task Force, along with the District Attorney’s Violent Crime and Dangerous Drug Bureau, urges the public to be aware of the dangers of cocaine laced with fentanyl, highlighting its significant role in overdose deaths within the county.
