Investigation Underway After Fire at Waldorf Residence

WALDORF, MD – A significant fire at a single-family home in Waldorf is currently under investigation, according to officials. The blaze, which broke out on June 5 at 6:26 PM, caused substantial damage to the property located at 5612 Needlefish Court.

The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident, which required 50 firefighters and nearly an hour to bring under control. Although the fire alarm system was not present, a smoke alarm was installed in the home.

The owner of the home, Kenneth Cote, has been displaced due to the fire, which originated in the attic. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths reported. The total estimated loss includes $250,000 in structural damage and $50,000 in content loss.

A passer-by initially discovered the fire. The cause of the fire remains undetermined as investigations continue.
