Robbery at Liberty Gas Station in Northeast Philadelphia: Police Seek Suspect

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 10 — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northwest Detective Division is actively investigating a commercial robbery that occurred early Saturday morning at a gas station in the city’s Northeast section.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., a suspect entered the Liberty Gas Station at 5302 Rising Sun Avenue and assaulted an employee before making off with $8,500 in cash. The incident began when the employee, who was in the office area, left to repair a gaming machine inside the store. As he attempted to return to his secured office, the suspect, who had been playing another gaming machine, followed him into the office and attacked him.

The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans, black and white sneakers, and a green baseball cap. The individual fled the scene immediately after taking the money.

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify and locate the perpetrator.
