WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 14-year-old girl has been arrested and charged in connection with two armed carjackings that occurred earlier this month in the Fourth and Sixth Districts, the Metropolitan Police Department announced Friday.
The first incident took place at approximately 1:33 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, in the 6600 block of Georgia Avenue NW. The victim was seated inside their vehicle when suspects approached. One suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband and demanded the victim exit. The suspects fled in the stolen vehicle, which was later recovered.
Roughly five hours later, at 6:42 p.m., a second attempted carjacking occurred in the 4400 block of Alabama Avenue SE. In this incident, the suspects approached another victim seated in their car. One suspect held the victim at knifepoint and demanded the keys. As the victim exited, the other suspects threatened to shoot and demanded additional property. They were ultimately unsuccessful in taking the vehicle, which was secured with an anti-theft steering wheel lock.
The 14-year-old female suspect, a resident of Northwest D.C., was arrested on Thursday, May 29, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court booking order. She is charged with two counts of Armed Carjacking involving a gun and a knife.
Investigators continue to pursue leads in both incidents
