Armed pair sought after Bronx subway robbery at Elder Avenue station

A Bronx commuter’s morning commute turned terrifying in seconds on the subway stairs.

Bronx, NY – Police are searching for two men who robbed a subway rider at gunpoint inside the Elder Avenue 6 line station early Tuesday morning, according to the New York City Police Department.

Investigators said the incident occurred around 5:40 a.m. on September 23, as a 23-year-old man was walking up the station stairs. Two unidentified individuals approached him, and one displayed a firearm while making a threatening statement. The second suspect then grabbed the victim’s property, including headphones and cash, before both fled the station on foot toward Boynton Avenue.

No injuries were reported. The first suspect was described as a male last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, red sweatpants, and white sneakers. The second suspect was described as a male last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, black pants, and multicolored sneakers.

Transit District 12 detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
