Delaware woman wins $100K Maryland Lottery prize with scratch-off bought in Port Deposit
PORT DEPOSIT, MD — A Delaware resident who routinely crosses into Maryland for scratch-offs is now $100,000 richer after scoring the top prize on a Maryland Lottery ticket sold in Cecil County.
The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, claimed the six-figure win at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Monday after purchasing a Kings & Queens $10 scratch-off ticket from Lion Xpress, located at 1252 Jacob Tome Highway in Port Deposit. She is the first person to hit the game’s top prize since it launched in September.
Calling the win “perfect timing,” she told officials the money will ease financial strain due to recent family challenges. While she’s no stranger to smaller wins — including a $10,000 casino payout and multiple $50 prizes — this is her largest prize to date.
Originally from Maryland, the player continues to return regularly for her favorite Lottery games. Her decision paid off in a major way with the Kings & Queens ticket, which still has six of its seven $100,000 top prizes unclaimed as of Tuesday, along with thousands of other prizes between $10 and $3,000.
The Lion Xpress store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
