Teen arrested in back to back Northwest store robberies

Washington, DC – A 19-year-old Southeast D.C. man has been arrested and charged after two stores in Northwest were robbed days apart in incidents that followed the same pattern, police said.

Both robberies occurred in the 1900 block of 9th Street Northwest. In each case, the suspect entered a business, reached into an open cash register, grabbed cash and fled the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The first robbery was reported Wednesday, February 4 at approximately 3:57 p.m. The second occurred Friday, February 13 at approximately 3:58 p.m.

Following an investigation, detectives located and arrested Kirey Myers, 19, of Southeast, on Sunday. He was charged with two counts of robbery.

Police said the Metro Transit Police Department assisted in the apprehension of the suspect.

The investigation into the two incidents has now led to charges in connection with both daytime robberies along the 9th Street corridor.
